Notifications- PLEASE READ

I'm done typing up posts for Contest Craze at my other blog and will have more time to spend on Around The World Tours.

There are a few people who are mailing late this week from last week's mail by dates (personal problems). I have given them all until Wednesday to mail and post DC without getting a strike.

I will be enforcing the rules more thoroughly from now on. I've had too many requests to mail late recently, and these have been the rules from day one. You must mail within your week time-frame and get DC. I'm also going to try my hardest to make sure each person doesn't have more than 2 books at a time in the future. With this many tours happening its bound to happen sometimes. I will be bouncing people around more often so if your name moves up or down, its to help you or someone else out.

Remember you must also review the books (minus the 3 that you have passes on). In the future this number will jump up by a few, because more tours will be taking place. There are still a lot of missing reviews, which can be found a few posts down.

I am also instating a new rule. (In the rules section, it says I have the right to modify/add rules if I see fit) I didn't want to have to do this but I can not handle emailing each person when they don't come post the DC.

Please Post DC within 2 days of mailing the book out. Yes, we can see if you do this, because on the DC it says the time/date you mailed.

After 4 reminders (me emailing you to come post DC because its past your mail by date and you haven't) you will get a strike. Or if you do not post your DC I've been very lenient up until now on giving strikes but I can't go chase you down to come post DC or to mail books on time. (this does not include me emailing you reminders before your mail by date) This is your responsibility. We are dealing with over 70 tours right now and I am already sending addresses/reminders and updating tours every day; I spend anywhere from 1-3 hours a day updating/sending reminders/inserting names into excel/who has what/who is next on tour!
We are all adults here (or close to it if your a teen) and if you want to be a member of this site, you must be responsible!

  • If I have to remind you more than 4 times to post your DC you will get a strike OR if you post your DC more than 2 days late more than 4 times. (without me reminding you) you will get a strike. (this is essentially the same thing, you are posting your DC late)
  • If You Need to brush up on the rules: HERE

If you get a random book in the mail, please come look at that tour to see if it happens to be your turn (tour book).

I hope you all understand. It takes a lot if time to maintain this site and keep the arc tours going, and this helps us the arcs move at a relatively fast pace and it helps keep the tours organized.

A lot of authors/publishers donate arcs to this site and they want to know their arc is on the move to lovely new reviewers!

I love the tour site and I appreciate everyone who wants to be a part of it, but without rules comes chaos.

Thank You.

If you find the rules unattainable here, there are other arc tour sites you can look into such as:

  1. I think this is more than fair. We're all here to share and enjoy books together. Thanks for doing this. I know it's a lot of hard work and we all really appreciate it!

  2. Hi Cindy! Your rules are more than fair, just what Loreleimarsh said. The book tour, International Book Tours is also very strict, hence the international part. Books go everywhere, not just in the U.S. and Canada. That is why we are also strict when it comes to sending books late, etc... However, the down-side of it being international is that we do not have proof that the person actually has sent the book because a lot of countries don't have tracking numbers. Also, with 70 tours, wow, I wonder how you manage! What's your little trick in organizing/emailing/etc...? Overall, you've worked so hard with this tour, I know it is really hard, it's starting to get hard with us already. Keep up the fantastic job Cindy! :)

  3. Hi! I just keep it all in an excel document and when someone mails, I switch the name, when someone recieves a book, switch the name again. have a place where it says who is next on the tour, etc. Its something I just started doing. Before, I was literally remembering most of them, who had what. Its much better with excel but does take time everyday on updating. And emailing, I literally have to email addresses out, plus reminders, plus I try to CC the person rec the book so they know its coming. I timed myself last time, and it took 3 hours to send all emails out regarding each tour. Yes, it takes time, and thats why its so great when someone comes and posts DC on their own/sends on time and tells me when they get a book so I don't have to hunt you down!!! LOL

  4. So it's excel! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been trying to find out a way to make things easier. But I still am shocked with the 3 hours part, the maximum I have been on the computer, just focusing on the book tours, was one hour.. hmm.. maybe because you have 70 tours. Your doing an awesome job with keeping up with the tours though!

Btw, sorry for using my book blog account! This is still International Book Tours! =)

  5. Thats ok, I knew who you were!!

Yep use excel, so than you can stretch the columns out to put their names too. Yeah it usually takes a while to go through and update them, please send out reminders, plus I tend to have to move people around so I have to reorganize tours. LOL. I'm also trying to be better about that, so people quit getting so many at once, so they don't feel overwhelmed. Going to spend more time making sure of that.
