Comments, Suggestions, opinions?

Happy Early Valentine's Day! I Love Valentine's Day. I will be starting new tours in honor of Valentine's Day this weekend. I'm just curious on a few things.

How do you like the way things are going? I am trying my best to not let you end up with too many books at once but with the same people on each tour, its bound to happen. I'm just looking for your suggestions here.

I'm asking each individual person their thoughts here, on what applies to you. Are you getting too many at once? Can you read more than one a week? This is just so I know who can handle having more than one at the same time. Are you one of the ones who only wants one book every other week???

Do you check back on each tour to see when your turn is coming up? Or do you like that I try to CC you on the email sent to the person mailing to you (so you get a heads up the book is coming to you).

Do you mind if I send you two to start off new tours. (so I can get them going, etc)

What do you think? Comments, suggestions? Are you overall happy with the way things are going???

Also, if you get bumped up or down on a tour, its just to help someone else out, I won't bump you too far down, but if a person randomly shows up ahead of you, its probably because you already have too many on the way to you (don't want to stress you out).

Also, if you mailed a few days late this week, I did not count it against you (big snowstorm and all).

This post is just for me to refer back to when I'm organizing tours so please give me some feedback.

FYI: Sara and Drea are not my assistants anymore (I know a few of you have emailed them for addresses. LOL). They have their own tour site now and I wish them the best of luck. Their site is located at: Traveling ARC Tours.

  1. For me its going fine. I do have the list of books I have signed up to read and have some idea of where I'm on the list. I'm happy with the way things are going...whoops about emailing Sara my bad. I remembered something after the fact.

  2. Everything so far is working out great for me, and I like how you stay on top of things. (You are awesome!) I've had more success here in receiving books than other sites.

  3. Since I'm new to the tours, I don't have anything important to contribute. I did want to say that everyone knows their schedules and knows the rules, and if they don't want to receive a bunch of books all at once, then they need to not sign up for the tour.

I'd be happy to receive two books at once. I can read more books in a week than just one, and if it's cheaper for you to do it that way.. then do it!

  4. Yeah, I wasn't organized at first, but now I have a system. I just started a new folder with links to all of the books I sign up for. I start to read them the day I get them and just put everything else aside. Once I send the book on it's way, I delete the link. I can do more than one book a week -- easily.
One thing that would be nice is that everyone would leave a comment when the book is sent and received.

  5. Yeah, I will need everyone to keep using the chatbox BUT if you also want to comment on the tour, that will help everyone who is using the RSS feeds.

I wish the chatbox had an RSS feed. LOL

  6. Also, if you want to donate An ARC to the tour, let me know!

  7. I think these tours work out pretty well! I like that you require DC and keep all the tour pages up to date. I can definitely handle more than one book a week (once I got 4 books in one week from three different tour groups and had no trouble). I also keep track of where I am on the lists so that the books aren't a surprise. Overall I think you're doing an awesome job running the tours!

  8. I think you are doing great too! I don't care how many I get in a week, I sign up for tours really wanting to read the books so it doesn't take me long to read them. I would love to save shipping costs by getting 2 books at once, too.

A trick I use to look up the books I'm on tour for is to use the blog search on the top and look for my name - it pulls up most of them (sometimes it misses 1, I'm not sure why). So if people are looking for a way to organize themselves that could work.

  9. Oh also I love all of the books you've been posting! Almost all of them are ones that I have wanted to read very badly!

  10. Firstly, thanks for doing this Cindy, I appreciate how organize everything is! I know it must be crazy sometimes. On my end, I'm okay with more than 1 arc at a time. I usually read more than 1 book a week anyway. I do check back to see where I am on the list with each tour I'm on so I can plan for it, whether it's only 1 book or multiple. And I second what "Just Your Typical Book Blog" said - I've had more chances to read on tours here than anywhere else I've signed up for. Plus, knowing when something is sent out makes me feel like I know a present is coming in the mail!

  11. So far so good. I am very pleased with the chance to read so many of these titles. I don't mind putting other things aside when a book arrives. I am going to get two probably tomorrow, but I can easily read two in one week. I need to make a list for what is coming so I can check back on their status. I am only reviewing with you so that makes it easier.

I was wondering if I could be put on the list to get Shadow back after the arc tour. Thanks in advance.

  12. Elie. Hi. All books are mailed back to the donater when the tour ends so even if it dosent say your name at the end, know that it will be sent back to you. Since I manage every tour, I know who it goes back to. LOL

  13. PS. Also remember guys I can add people on to tours that are closed so if you want on, email me and I'll see what I can do (as long as the tour isn't completely over, etc.)

  14. It's hard for me to get two done in one week because I also read for teachers and two other tour groups. My other tour groups have definite dates and I got two books at the same time as 3 other tour groups plus working 40 hours!

I keep a google doc with all tours I've signed up for everywhere that includes book title, date received, date reviewed and where, date mailed and DC if nec. I like having the DC and use that for ALL books i send out now. That part helps the most. I can look up DC for books I'm expecting and get an estimate of when it will come. I would love a little more flexibility in case of over"booking" though. :)

  15. Yeah I am trying to work on that Brain Lair. Also, going to try to make it so people don't have soo many on the way to them at once. That is why someone might jump before you on a book. Just got to be patient. Because chances are if that happen, you are either helping someone else by going before them, or they are helping you because you already have books on the way to you. LOL

  16. It's working out great for me. I get 1 every few weeks because I'm in the middle/bottom of most lists. I REALLY like that you try to CC us on the e-mails because while I do check on my placement a lot (because I forget easily) I can't seem to keep up with timing as you never really know when someone will send it out. As always, thank you so much for doing this!

  17. Everythings working out for me. I'm really thankful for the extra couple of days for the tours. I'm in central Jersey and I can hardly get out of my house! By the way, I got Before I Fall two days late because of the snow. I'm almost finished, but just a heads up in case I can't mail it on the day its due!

  18. I think things are going great! First of all, I LOVE the books that are up for tours! And I like when you CC us on the emails. I do check to see where I am on the lists, but this way we know when its coming soon so we can arrange to start other books (for reviews on release dates) earlier if needed. The only thing I can think of changing, and this might not even be necessary, is that if a person gets a second book, maybe you could let the person have it for an extra 2 days if needed.

  19. I think it is going really well, I am definitely capable of reading more than one book a week. I like that you CC me on the emails becasue then I can sort of figure out when I am going to receive the book. I really like the way it is laid out, and i can expect to actually get the books that I sign up for. I agree that if a person has more than two books they should get a couple extra days. But besides that you are doing a great job.

  20. I am going to try to make sure nobody ends up with more than 2 at the same time but with shipping, I can never be sure the exact day someone will get one.

And, as for the extra few days, I think it will complicate things more for me. Its a lot of work sorting out the tours sometimes, and adding on the week as is. If I have to go through and manually add 2 days to each person who already has a book, it could become more time consuming. ya know? I already spend 1-2 hours a day sending out emails, marking books rec, updating. I think most of us can just deal with reading 2 or so in a week. Most of the time, books aren't received on the same day too so their mail by dates usually are not the same date.

  21. I think things are going well, books seem to make the rounds fairly quickly and things seem to run smooth. I do check the tours to see when I'm coming up, but appreciate the heads up in email too, if it's not too much more work on your part.

I don't have a problem with having 2 or more at the same time. I do my best to get through them first and quickly so they can continue on their way.

Thanks for all you are doing to coordinate these tours.

  22. I've thought about that, but I think most people won't mail to Canada and it would also take longer time to get there and back (since these are arcs, and trying to get through a lot of people before the book is released)

    ReplyDelete
  23. And, if I were to ever add Canada, it will probably be at the end of the list (since it takes longer to get there and back, etc). There is a new international tour site open, by the undercover booklover though!

  24. I've only signed up for a few tours and only had one book so far but it's been great. I think you have a great variety of books and I really appreciate you doing this. I also like the emails, I know that's more work for you but it's great for the less organized :)

I couldn't read more than one book a week so I like that you jig the lists around.

  25. I have no complaints with how things are being run! I love how I'm able to track where the ARCs are so that way I know when to expect a book. I also love how quickly the books get to me-this site's been the fastest in delivering tour books so far. Plus I love the titles you put up, Cindy! They're all great! :)

  26. I love how things are going! You are very understanding and organized.
I like when you CC us the book that's coming but I usaually check here too.

Right now, I cant get two at a time because of college. When the semester is over (like december) I could get 3 or 4 a week and would read them in time, but in the middle I cant promise to be done.

I love when I start tours LOL as long as I dont have any other book at the time. I think that's all! THANKS for the Tours Cindy! You rock!

  27. Are you getting too many at once? So far, I've only gotten one book at a time. But I've only received 2 books so far.

Can you read more than one a week? I prefer no more than one book a week.

Do you check back on each tour to see when your turn is coming up? Or do you like that I try to CC you on the email sent to the person mailing to you (so you get a heads up the book is coming to you). I do check back once in a while to see where I am on the list but I have to admit, I like it when you email me to let me know a book is coming to me next.

What do you think? Comments, suggestions? Are you overall happy with the way things are going??? I like the way things are going. I try to be careful with how many tours I sign up for. I have a crazy schedule (I work full time and I have 2 pre-schoolers) so I limit myself to how many tours I sign up for. I want to make sure that I can keep up with the time commitments.

And I don't mind getting bumped up or down on a tour.

  28. I love the site! It's very efficient, and the books move quickly. There's a great variety of books, not just "popular" books.

I personally prefer having only 1 or 2 books a week, as lately I never have enough time to read.
